Our Family...
The EMONET’S of Louisiana are all descended form Michel EMONET. Michel was born on December 24, 1816 in the town of Megeve which then was in the country of Savoie. Savoie is now the French province of Haute-Savoie in the Rhone-Alpes of eastern France.
Michel’s parents were Gabriel EMONET and Marie CONSEIL. They lived in the town of Megeve which is located in the French Alps near Geneva, Switzerland.
On June 1, 1842 at the age of 26 Michel left France to seek his fortune in America. He joined his cousin who was living in Mexico. He then left Mexico with a friend and entered the United States in New Orleans on June 16, 1843. Michel’s friend was Belizaire ARNAUD who persuaded Michel to come to the village now known as Arnaudville where he met and married Adelaide DUPLECHAIN who was an orphan and was living with the Arnaud family. Michel would die in the St. Landry Parish town of Arnaudville in South Louisiana on September 11, 1876. His wife Adelaide would pass 10 years later also Arnaudville on March 19, 1886.

 Together Michel and Adelaide (Aglaee) had 9 surviving children, 2 boys and 7 girls. The descendants of the eldest son now live in the Loreauville/New Iberia area. The younger son was Paul Gabriel who had one surviving son, Joseph Michel. Joseph had 3 sons from which two first cousins were boys. Ronald Paul EMONET and his family live in Opelousas. Charles EMONET and his family live in the Baton Rouge area.
Charles grew up in the country between Opelousas and Port Barre and married Sheila LEBLANC of Port Barre. Charles was in the Air Force when they got married and spent 3 years in Japan where their eldest son, Mark was born. When they returned to the United States Charles, Sheila and Mark settled in Baton Rouge and were soon joined by their younger son, Scott. |

Charles worked at Dow Chemical and retired after 30+ years. Sheila earned a Master’s degree from LSU and is retired elementary school teacher after teaching in East Baton Rouge Parish for 25 years. Mark earned an Accounting degree from LSU and is Vice-President/CFO at Lipsey’s, LLC. He is married to the former Adriane ROBIN of Port Barre and are the proud parents of two daughters Ellie Grace and Isabella Marie and a newborn son, Ethan Mark.Scott earned an under-graduate degree from LSU and a Law degree from Southern University and is a law partner in the Murphy Law Firm. He is married to the former Jody MCCALL of Baton Rouge and are the proud parents of McCall Ann, Brooks Michael and Davis Paul. |
